I find this version of Tokyo Jihen's Rakujitsu (from their Just Can't Help It DVD) even more moving than the original.

And while I was searching for the above video, I found this:

IA about rakujitsu.

tbh, i don't dig audrey's work either. i find it generic, racialist, and intrinsically misogynistic. then again, my favourite artist of all time is el greco so my opinions barely count. "i like religious paintings and portraiture only! history paintings are the highest form of art! all contemporary art is trash!" probably me rebelling against the modern art museum environment i intern in.

my ~*~bff~*~ is here for spring break (NAPPING ATM. i am so exciting), so i missed ffa. but i concur; ryo is incredibly heterosexual, which i why i don't favour him (my ryo icon is fanservice to my girls, you know). i think many of the girls are just threatened by the thought of their idols engaging in heterosexual behaviour. and a huge part of that perception of 'overwhelming gayness' with JE is misinterpreting cultural mores on both ends.

that being said, i am equally irritated with the more, shall we say, discerning, JE fans who insist that every person in the company is straight, and that having sex/ drug binges is ( ... )

I can see where you're coming from perceiving Kawasaki's work as mysogynistic, but I've always thought the sexualization of the figures in her work was somewhat ironic in its presentation. Then again, I'm a closet hipster, and thus think everything is ironic. It's difficult to get a clear understanding of her point of view as an artist, because she apparently doesn't really do interviews. And yeah, her style's clearly derivative-- but I think it's purty.

BLURGH, I am so over the stealth homophobia that occurs so often in the JE fandom. LOL essentialization and sexualization of gay identity!

YAY for BFF visits. Being moored in DC, I haven't seen any of my friends in months. AKA from January until now is, effectively, my "spring break." Boo/hiss/I don't know whether that upsets me or not.

CAN WE PLEASE JUST HAVE A SYMPOSIUM ABOUT THIS SHIT, 'cause damn.

I thought everyone knew Ryo was straight. BUT I WAS WRONG. Very wrong, apparently.

I am also tired of the age-old "OH NOEZ [insert idol here] has a girlfriend!!!" BS. Excuse me, can he have a life beyond dancing around in sparkly jumpsuits for your entertainment?? Like, I get it-- people like to feel like their fantasies could become reality. But seriously. Seriously.

Let's be real, JE fandom. (LOL at the assumption that this will ever occur.)
