Oh, so this is the "point of contention" (sorry, catching up with posts backwards) - I think it's not right of your mother, interfering in that way.

Seriously, no wonder you were angry - that is a serious transgression of boundaries, particularly for someone like you who has a very close and special relationship with their writing.

Even if you had missed turning it in - it would have been your thing. Parents have to grow up and let their kids miss their own deadlines.

(Sorry, being rather assertive here but it really makes me mad too.)
