Personality:
In order to describe Anise, one first has to explain her history and the many layers she has.
Cute, mischievous, and cruel are all words used to describe Anise. While she is energetic and eccentric, she uses that to her advantage to make people believe that she is a normal girl. She is anything but. Since she came from a poor family, she grew up in a harsh environment. Her family kept getting into money problems so she had to work for Mohs to pay it off. Since then, she has been living a double life to help her parents. Due to this, she is extremely bright and responsible for a girl her age. She knew how to cook, clean, work, sew, and even kill due to her ability as a fighter. At the age of eleven, with enough studying and practice of her artes, she managed to become a fon master guardian. She already knew the troubles of doing the job since many others picked on her due to her age. She never trusted people because she believed that everyone was out to get one another. She was harsh and cruel to people because they deserved it. It was a way to protect herself. Despite this cynical view, she developed a fake surface. She pretends to have an innocent and cheerful nature. She would much rather be viewed as a 'gold digger' then to let other knows she was lying this whole time. It could be said that because she trusted no one, Ion was her first friend. While she befriended Dist and Jade, she was never fully comfortable with them.
Despite her cold view on humanity, Anise cannot stand injustice. If there is someone in trouble, she will help them. While she does try to figure out ways to get rich, she only does it her for parents. When it's clear that someone is doing it for selfish reasons, she will make them pay. Adding to that, while Anise does have a horrible temper, she wants to be seen as an adult. She is responsible and is capable of being calm in most situations. When others were picking on her, she didn't report it to Ion because of those reasons. She wanted people to take her seriously as a guardian. The quickest way to anger her is to insult her parents (and her friends later on). In a way, she is extremely loyal. She feels indebted to them and will do anything to protect them.
Between her time as a fon master guardian and before meeting Luke, Anise remained the same. She was still teasing people, trying to marry into the rich, cursing like a sailor, and still had a hard time trusting in people.
With that said, because Anise is so use to deceptions and tricks, her time with the others allowed her to see that people aren't that bad. Even after Luke had changed, she was still unsure about everything. She was always the first person to distrust anyone who was a traitor no matter what good they did, she was always the first to make harsh comments to those same people, and she was the last person to believe that people could live without the Score.
While Luke's changes made her see that people can change, it was after Ion's death that she changed. When her friends found out about her double life, she had nothing to hide anymore. She believed that there is good in some people because, even though she killed someone, they forgave her. They were even willing to fight by her side when she challenged Arietta to a duel. It was also because of Ion's death that had made her want to believe that people can change for the better good. In order to do that, she had to change herself. While she does love to tease people, she wasn't going to hide anything anymore. She promised herself to live an honest life by giving up money and becoming the first female fon master. That meant that she had to do things the hard way but it would be worth it.
Overall, despite how mature Anise is, she is still a little girl. She is cynical but she is slowly starting to see that people can change no matter what. Yes, she is cute but one should not underestimate how tough this girl can be. She is a jerk but at least she's a jerk with a heart of gold. Also, she loves to troll people so watch out.
Skills | Powers: As a fon master guardian, Anise is a lot tougher than she looks. As someone who fights on a daily basis, she is fit and stronger than most girls her age. She has a wide range of artes that go from the first to the sixth fonon and she can also use her doll, Tokunaga, to physically attack enemies. With the help of a fon machine, her doll is able to grow bigger than most people and gives her a better advantage. She delivers heavy damage to anyone who fights her. She is a soldier and is willing to risk her life to protect others. Even outside of the battlefield, Anise is capable of keeping up with her older teammates. Despite the dangers they go through, she turns out just fine. Even after being thrown off the Tartarus, she was completely fine. As noted by Ion and Jade, she is Anise after all.
She is also extremely clever for her age. Since she grew up living in debt, she had to find ways to outsmart people and get money quick. Due to this, she is very insightful when it comes to other people and her teammates often comment on how perceptive she is. As being one of, if not the youngest fon master guardian, she is also studious and hard working. While she isn’t as bright as Jade, she has a lot of knowledge and knows her way around certain places such as Mt. Zaleho and Daath. She is very responsible and capable, too. She knows how to take care of herself, her parents, and Ion as well. It is also commented that she is the best cook and would make a good housewife. She is mature, even acting like an older sister at times even though she is the youngest.

As for limitations, she has a hard time trusting people. She grew up in a place where everyone was out to get everyone and developed a cold personality to deal with it all. She is a jerk and isn’t afraid to show it. She doesn’t bother with passive aggressiveness and will say what she wants loud and clear. What also shows in her actions is her bluntness. She is headstrong, acts before she thinks, and certainly throws out curses when Luke and Jade aren’t around (I’LL KILL YOU BASTARDS!). Since she is so cold, she uses her insight on people and throws it back at them. She knows how to blackmail people and can be manipulative at times. While she is post canon, she no longer wants to marry into the rich but some habits die hard. She can be greedy and is willing to find any guys who have a lot of money.
Since she is so used to taking care of herself, she is used to doing things by herself. She runs on the principle of “if you want something done, you should do it yourself.” This goes back to those troubles with trusting people as she would rather suffer on her own than to let others do things for her. She never told the others that she was a spy because she thought she could handle it on her own. This also applies to her future duel with Arietta.
Anise is still a child and, therefore, is childish. While she is strong, she is small. It doesn’t take much for her to be thrown out of the Tartarus and weights about 90 pounds for a 5’0 girl. She is mature but there are times when she fits her age. She whines and says cute things about herself, carries a doll with her (and sometimes talks of Tokunaga as though it was a person), has a love of pink, and so on. Just like any young girl her age, she also thinks about love and boys often. In a way, she is wishing for a knight in shining armor to come save her from the life she has. She is smart but she is naive.

Anise was sure that she was dreaming, it’s not everyday she gets to hear about people being transformed into weapons or having to eat souls. She was sure that she must have ate something that night.
Moments before arriving in Death City, she was pondering. She received an invite from Baticul about Luke’s would coming of age ceremony but she couldn’t go. She just wouldn’t. Her parents kept telling her to go but it just didn’t feel right. She had to smile a bit because she knew Luke wouldn’t enjoy it either. Instead of going, she asked her parents to leave her alone and spent most of the day in her room thinking. In her opinion, that was more productive than going to Baticul. She thought about the adventures that she had with everyone and how they did the impossible.
A world without the Score was a scary thought but it was for the better. They were able to make their own choices now, they were free. However, she frowned when another thought came up. Despite this issue, there are those who still believe in the Score. She remembered how those people entered into Daath demanding that it be returned and how they kept bugging Florian. It was frustrating but she had to live with it. She wanted to tell those people off but she knew they had good intentions. She had to believe in Ion and Luke, people can change but it just took so long. With a sigh, she sat up from her bed and walked out of her room. As she walked outside of the cathedral, she noticed a couple of familiar faces.
As they landed in Tataroo Valley, something felt off. How in the world did she black out and end up in this strange place? Even with all the information explained to her, it was still annoying her. They couldn’t kidnap people to fight their war. While it’s been 2 years, she just finished being in one! It wasn’t fair! Without a second thought, she walked out of the room and decided to go look for answers herself. No one was going to kidnap Anise Tatlin and going to get away with it!
