Also now that I have really stared at my dogs' feet... I'm pretty pleased with myself. I DON'T trim very often, but I exercise the shit out of my dogs. Neither one of them has nails that touch the ground. Their quicks are SO close that I really couldn't even take a mm off. Go me! I learned so much from this video... and I'm glad even my black dog has some white toes.

Also also also... (omg I'm obsessed)... this is all so related to hoof trimming in horses.

This is great! I'm going to reference it at the vet hospital! I'm sharing this on Facebook, too. Thank you!

Border Collie hanging out on his mat is super cute!

the bit about trimming the fur between the pads surprised me, but makes sense. i've always liked my dogs "toehawk" fur that sticks out between the pads. i think its cute. but Puppy does have a hard time with the hardwood floors. neither of my dogs are sport dogs tho. most of their running is just in the backyard. but its a good tip to know. something i never would have thought of.

thanks for sharing. it can be intimidating clipping my own dogs' nails. and getting them to sit still LONG enough for me to get the nail clipper in the right place, and having to move all the toe fur out of the way. maybe we'll start practicing shaving the toe fur with a clippers... not sure how well that'll go over, hehehe.
