*Participating as best I can from the drama perspective*

I think Shin and Yankumi make a well-balanced couple personality wise. Yankumi brings Shin out of shell, while Shin seems to have a calming, supportive effect, imo. Plus, Shin seems to have very little interest in 'normal' girls/women, and I doubt he'll ever meet anyone up to Yankumi's level anytime soon :p

Would answer the Shinohara section, but it's a tad different in the drama. But he'd be blind not to have at least an inkling I think...

I knew you'd be the first to respond! LOL.

I agree with you. Shin definitely has a sort of calming effect on Yankumi. I think he tries to be the voice of reason when she is in a temper or threatening to beat someone up. Haha. Yankumi on the other hand is gloriously clueless it's funny. She has no idea that Shin is in love with her and merrily goes on her own way, actually insulting Shin's masculinity a few times as well.

They do make the odd couple but their differences actually compliment each other I think. Shin's intelligence, calm manner, willing to fight, and his ability to adapt work well with Yankumi's quick temper, intelligence, pride, fighting skills, and her insecurities. If Shinohara had ended up staying, I don't think he and Yankumi would have worked out as well. Shinohara was working with the Kuroda family to pay back a debt and I think he knew that someday he'd return to his home and move on.

Well, I have been checking for this!

Yeah, very Yin and Yang in a way...

Shin and Yankumi are one of my favourite pairings ever. I loved the way he had feelings for her, and she was just too dense to see it, and I liked (in the manga) the very gentle way it proceeded.

Despite the fact that she didn't realise Shin loved her, Yankumi still sought him out whenever she was in trouble.. so on some level she must have known they were a good match :-)

Shinohara... nope. I don't think they were a good match. It was more like Yankumi had puppy love.

I have to admit that I've always been biased when it comes to Shin. I noticed that Shinohara treated Yankumi like a sometimes annoying younger sibling. He cared for her, noticed when she did something wrong, tolerated her, but didn't care what she did most of the time. He was always involved in his own world. Shin on the other hand was always fascinated with Yankumi. He wanted to find out more about her so he always watched her and while doing that, he fell in love with her.

Shin accepted Yankumi for who she was, faults and all. To him, she was perfect. I love that about Shin.

I'm from a manga/anime perspective. I like how Shin and Yankumi balance each other, one who makes sure she's alright when needed but also pull something over her head. And while he may not be as strong as Yankumi physically, I think he holds his own right with how persistent he is when he wants something.

Shinohara... I, for the most part, doubted he had feelings for her in the beginning until it reached that chapter. It seemed like a general respect at first, but that could have been in part due to his personality. He was kind, but maybe too much of it, that it didn't really reign her in when needed... And somehow I keep thinking that Yankumi wouldn't have been able to fulfill her duties as an Ojou properly. But that's just a guess ><

I honestly hope that somehow Shin becomes the head of the family. The way he accepts them despite their appearances and does almost anything to win Yankumi over, (Fundoshi incident anyone :) ).

Good point. Shin and Yankumi do balance each other nicely. And Shin knows that she is stronger than him, and part of him accepts it but there is also a part that wants to be stronger so that he can protect her. Like the special chapter when Yankumi's new students get her involved with that gang and they beat her up. Shin is able to come and rescue her. That, I think, helped Yankumi see that he did love her and that she could now return those feelings.

Shin and Yankumi would do great together as heads of the family. The balance thing again. LOL. He is the voice of reason when she gets angry and she will be the strength when he needs it.

With Shin and Yankumi, it was one of those moments where you KNEW they were going to be a couple by the end of it all. They had this automatic chemistry that, even though Yankumi didn't notice at first, she didn't have with Shinohara. We knew by how Shin acted towards her that he was into everything about her from the start. It was instant. Well, he said so himself.

As far as Shinohara, I think that he treated Yankumi more like a sibling. It's one of those things where he cared for her, but not on the level that she did him. I honestly think that Yankumi wasn't truly in love with Shinohara. I think she just had great admiration for him being that he worked for the clan and all.

Hopefully they will put out another special to tie up all of our wants and needs, but I think that Yankumi and Shin will eventually marry, he will become the "Young Red Lion" and new head of the Ooedo Clan, they'll have a child (more than likely a girl, but I almost wanna say TWINS~!), and Yamaguchi will still continue to teach. Yup. :)
