I just purchased a Gold Weekend Package to ELF in New Jersey at the end of July.

Good for you! A new experience indeed - and we'll want to hear all about it, seeing as our big con in the UK this August, for which I had started saving, has been cancelled :(

What a bummer. I'm so sorry! Any chance you could find a cheap flight to the States? Especially if Viggo could be induced to show up. I'll start working on that, LOL!

What's ELF stand for?

I can't imagine what it's like at those big cons! I wonder if it's anything like the annual flower show? Which you would think would be very civilized and quaint, but is in fact out of control. :-D

Hee! You are so right about flower shows. The cutthroat world of gardening, arrrrr. :>D
There are various theories as to the origins of the ELF acronym. The Creation Entertainment website doesn't even seem to know; the event is simply ELF. One theory claims it's the Eastern LOTR Festival. Other suggestions include Elijah-Licking Festival and some that are closer to NC-17 rated. My own preference is Elderly LOTR Fandom. ;)

I salute your bravery! Be sure to work out and take your vitamins in the next few months. I've heard that stamina is required at these things. :D

Yes, still planning on that. Do you have the dates yet?
As for stamina--it can't be any more exhausting than the Vermont Hoot. :>D
