Updated Flist!

Today I have added a number of people to my friends list.  Hope you all don't mind !  I rarely post in my own journal but love to see what's going on with other LOTR-loving folk.  So I have shamelessly been adding friends of current friends.  If anyone doesn't wish to be friended, please let me know.  No offense will be taken, I assure you.

Middle-earth bath day? That has to be about the coolest thing I've ever heard! :)))) Maybe if I'm ever able to get up there, we could have a Middle-earth pool party :D

Of course I THOUGHT about taking photos. That's as far as it went *eyeroll*. I have a lovely collection of action figures. The entire Fellowship, a King of the Dead, Elrond, various elves, Eomer and Eowyn, Gollum, and assorted Frodos and Sams. Most of the reeeally tiny Armies of Middle-earth figures, which include my one and only King Theoden. Plus a Frodoll, a Bilbo doll and Galadriel. But no orcs.

Sing hey! for the bath at the end of the day. Or the middle of the day, hee hee!

Hehehe. If you make it up to Chicago to moot with Goldie, you MUST include me! I haven't been to visit her in a month of Sundays, and she and her Elf-lovin' hubby are wonderful. As are the cats. And there's this amazing little restaurant they've taken me to whenever I went up there...

What a great idea, mini-Moot! Especially since I don't think Seattle is in the cards for me this summer.

The owners of the Noodle have opened a second restaurant, serving Latin/Mexican food. And they have a full liquor license. Margaritas, anyone? :)

An Oxy-clean bath, eh? Do you disolve the powder stuff, or do you have a liquid form?

I've always been afraid that whatever hidden glue might be holding them together might come unstuck... but that sounds like you've done it before. gods know my poor figures could use the cleaning...

So did you take the day off or call in sick? I love to do stuff like that on "sick days".

Sick days, what's sick days, hmmm Precious? It's a weird point of honor in my department that we don't take sick days unless we're at death's door, and even then everyone looks at you with suspicion when you return to work. Vacation day, alas!

All the gang came through with limbs and accessories intact. Believe it or not, this was their first bath ever. And I've had some of them over 5 years, eek! I didn't leave them in the solution very long before rinsing them, and yes, it was the powdered stuff. Even light-up Sting and Galdalf's light-up staff came through the dunking and still worked. (I sort of had forgotten about the electronic parts, ahem) Impressive construction for a $7 toy.

I put you on my friend's list. I like new friends and anyone who washes their action figures is all right in my book. I have tons on them. I recently got the new Frodo and Sam figures from SideShow. You should see Sam's rucksack, all the little pots and pans! It's brilliant! I just hope they make Merry and Pippin too. I would love to have all four hobbits in that kind of detail even if it is a bit pricey.

Oh, I've seen photos of the Frodo and Sam figures from Sideshow. They are gorgeous, and the level of detail is stupendous! I have declared a moratorium on more LOTR dolls due partly to space constraints and partly to the sneaking suspicion that at my age, maybe it really is time to stop buying toys for myself. Now, five years ago, mind you, it was perfectly OK.

;)

Thanks for friending me back, GW!

I refuse to give up the action figure habit due to age. I am older than dirt but I gotta have my action figures. As to space, well, I ran out of that years ago. What I need is a special wing on my house to hold the collection, oh, and the money to build it with.
Thank you for friending me. I haven't posted much lately due to work but I hope to be on line more from this point. I hope anyway or you are very likely to find me completely boring.

You were cleaning your action figures -- today? By coincidence, I was gluing the joints of a set of hobbit figures I'd bought second-hand on Ebay last year, supposedly representing the characters in the Grey Havens scene. All of their knee and hip joints were so loose they wouldn't maintain standing positions, so I've never been able to display them properly, using scotch tape to try to get them to stand up. I bought some Superglue months and months ago, but it was *today* that I actually glued their joints, set of joints by set of joints, working on knees and hips and ankles until they would maintain standing poses. And I dusted the shelves at the same time! This must be LotR figure-cleaning day. *g*

This was on Friday, but there obviously is something in the air this time of year that compels us to revisit M-e !
