Package

An owl has left a package on your bed. The package is a little beaten looking, like it was dragged quite the distance. And the paper, you can tell wasn’t the nicest before hand anyway. But it’s wrapped lovingly; bits of mismatched ribbon are tied, creating a colourful length, holding it all together.

A homemade card is attached, drawn on the front is a childish picture of two people kissing under a piece of mistletoe. Inside a familiar loopy handwriting has written a message,

Dear Caradoc,
Happy Christmas! I do hope you like your gift; I spent ages making it once I figured out what I wanted to do for you. The wool is from home, from our own sheep that I sheared and made this past summer, I completed the whole thing from start to finish by myself.

I couldn’t afford to buy you something huge, but I did want to get you something. I’m sorry I’m not able to buy you beautiful things from stores. But I made this with my heart, and I think that’s pretty special, I hope you do too, even if it is a bit silly.

I can’t tell you how happy you’ve made me these past few months. And I apologize again for doubting you. You’ve been wonderful to me; you’re the only one who can make me laugh like that. Just seeing you in my dreams every night makes me glad day has come because then I can see you for real.

I made the card too! It’s you and me kissing. I told you I have no talent for drawing. I think it catches our likeness anyway. I don’t need a drawing of you, I have the real thing I can hug and kiss whenever I want!

I hope you and I can spend a long time together Caradoc. I feel silly for saying it but it’s true. I can’t believe how lucky I was to find you. Call me childish, but I can’t think of anybody else in your shoes as my boyfriend, ever. I’m all red just writing this to you; imagine if I was telling this to your face! Hee.

I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas, and many more wonderful years ahead.

Yours, for as long as you’ll have me…I love you,
Dallas
