One of my students was suspended yesterday for insulting another student. The insult was calling her a lesbian. Because she is one. He meant that being a lesbian is an insult.

I hope he didn't see me holding hands with my girlfriend at our evening of the arts.

Don't let his small-mindedness make you feel any differently about displaying affection for your significant other. It boggles my mind that people still think that sexual preference is an appropriate measure to judge someone's worth. Good on the school for not tolerating that kind of behaviour
