I have had yet another idea for a novel. Require people to tell me to stop thinking about it and get on with writing the damn thing. Thanking you kindly!

Y'know - the sooner you write the first chapter, the sooner you can publish here in an f-lock, and we can all read it - like what we did for ItchyFrankie for the NaNoWriMo, and rparvaaz and f4f3 - and ask for "More! More!"

I have one set of characters yelling to get out of the synopsis and another set looking at their fingernails and refusing to get back into the action 22k words in.

Swap muses? Maybe we'd have more success that way...

That definitely sounds like a plan to me. I can see the world the characters live in, I can even see the faces of a couple of them and hear their voices for that matter. Can I put pen to paper? Can I bugger! I am determined to write the first line of the first chapter before I go to bed tonight.

Stop thinking about it and write it!

There. Now if you would be so kind as to yell the same thing at me, it'd be appreciated!

Me mate Mike Cobley was infamous in our writers group for taking forever to finish stories - he was always tinkering, redrafting, making improvements, and then he got a little mantra:

"To finish first, first you have to finish."

Third part of the the Shadowkings trilogy came out last year...

I'm going to have that tattooed onto my forehead...probably make me more attractive as well as being useful! Shadowkings huh? I hate it when people give me basic, sound, good advice. I feel honor bound to do something about it. Ta.

Shadowkings is a lot of fun - dark, brooding fantasy with the odd outbreak of graphic blood-letting. More or less whhat I'd expect of Mike...
