I like the idea of putting "opposite" characters together here (in the book and not just as a couple). It's rare (for me, at least) to find a book where someone challenges the main character rather than having every other character reinforce that he/she is right. Is there anything more about the plot? Or is this book based more on inter-character relationships?

Have any one of you three read the Hunger Games? I've been trying to get as many second opinions before I jump ship and start the second book. I'm in the middle of the spectrum (between absolute love and absolute contempt). I've also wanted to write a review for the first one for quite some time. I don't mean to change the subject, but any opinions?

Yes, the "opposites" attract angle is famous for a reason. It makes for an interesting read and promotes character growth, since there's a lot to learn from people who see things differently from you. At least that's what I think ( ... )

Damn, I was itching for a "BRING IT ON" moment between Gale and Peeta. Oh well. I mean, hypothetically, if it was pulled off to parody typical love triagles, I wouldn't be opposed to it.
The only reason why I'm looking forward to Catching Fire is Finnick. I hear he purrrrs. I'm not boy crazy, I swear. I like having quirks in the books I read, 'tis all. If it's all serious, I can't take it seriously.
I never catch on to hypes, but I hear the series is fairly hyped-up. I caught onto it 2 years too late. It's kind of fun then actually, because I get to make my own opinions about it without letting the hype affect them. While I didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE the first book, there was still something that made me keep going. I hope I'm satisfied in the end.

Finnick is indeed delicious! And a great character, he starts off my seeming one-dimensional, but throughout the story you see he is so much more.

Yeah, I can see what you see with the hype. I'm like that too. I only read the trilogy around a couple of months ago. And I'm normally wary when books are over hyped . . .

Lol. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the first book, but I can see what I mean. I hope you like the other two. If you want, tell us all about it when you finish. ;)

P.S. SORRY for the late reply!
