My grandfather is dead.

I just got a phone call from my dad. My grandpa Bob, my dad's father, died last night suddenly in his sleep after the family Christmas gathering. I got to talk to him yesterday and he seemed happy and was pleased with my progress on my PhD and happy that Andy has finished his degree. His last words to me we 'I love you.' before he passed the phone

I had a similar experience with my grandfather -- except my last phone call ended with me accidentally hanging up on him. But I just shrugged and figured I'd apologise when I spoke to him the next Sat ... except the next Sat conversation never came. Luckily my grandpa had an excellent sense of humour :P

Just remember to think of the positives -- remember the good times, and just let family strife slide right about now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm even more sorry I didn't hear about it until just now. Stupid work. *many many hugs* I hope you are well.
