Full Name: Baxter Jeanné Race: Human If Other, provide a description of how they differ from humans: N/A Occupation: Royal Guard Faction, if applicable: The royal family Reputation & rumors: His name is pronounced Jah-ney, but people keep saying it "Jenny." He is the failest guard. His family is ashamed of him. He's quiet and keeps to himself and ONE DAY HE IS GOING TO SNAP AND KILL EVERYONE (it's always the quiet ones). Age: 19 Birthday: May 13 Birth Location: Tyrol Height: 5'2" Weight: 120lb PB: Raiel (Violinist of Hameln)/Self-drawn
History: The Jeanné family is a strange beast. They are a minor noble house with a unique twist: it's headed by the women, and men marry into it. They take the third, fourth, fifth sons of other families, the women keep the Jeanné name instead of taking their husband's, and the children--the female children, at least--are born Jeannés. The family has a long history of raising excellent guardsmen--as long as they're female. The men of the family have typically never amounted to much, while the

Personality: Baxter is a person with a lot of strong opinions, but no willingness to voice them. Years of being overlooked and ignored have conditioned him to bottle up his feelings and never express his dissent. On the outside, he seems like a mousy, quiet, soft-spoken person, but on the inside he's full of pent-up rage that comes through in spurts, either through occasional statements that slip out during conversation, or through passive-aggressive comments or actions.
He tries to be friendly, but he's always a little too soft-spoken, a little too shy. His lack of confidence comes through in every action, and he seems perpetually dejected. He has the look of a kicked puppy. Overall this makes him a really awful guardsman, but he's so determined to prove himself to his family that he's stubbornly sticking with it, despite knowing deep down that this was probably the worst career move he could have ever made

It'd be strange for him to be small, unskilled physically and a guard, but he could be a trainee. Matrilines aren't accepted in Tyrol, though. Unless you make him foreign, he'd inherit his father's name.
Re the matriline, changed the first paragraph of history to:
The Jeanné family is a minor noble house well-known for one thing: its women are excellent guards, and its men have generally never amounted to much. Women who marry in are not true Jeanné, but their daughters are, and their daughters will unfailingly prove the rumour true (or at least, this is how history remembers them). The family is large and it isn't uncommon for Jeanné to marry Jeanné in the hopes of keeping the blood inside the name.
And re the first part: Would it work if I changed it to say his technical fighting skill was good, but his practical fighting skill was not great? Like, he can drill well, but he can't think on his feet so he'd lose in an actual street fight. Basically he's not awful but he's mediocre, and he'll never be anything but mediocre.
