Reputation & rumors: There are rumours that her father was never a merchant but a thief spread by the less scrupulous members of the Sabreme family. Also that she might be having affairs with some of the artists she sponsors, spread by the same. Being a philanthropist who gives to the poor and has sponsored several unknown artists who later became well-known, she's believed to be either a foolish woman who's struck it lucky a few times, or a kindly lady with a good eye for talent, depending on the person.

History: Cataline's father came to Tyrol from Spain to make his fortune, with only some money inherited from his father, his brother's fiancée and his brother's promise that if he saw his face in Madrid again he would lose his head. You could say that distrusting family was something Cataline inherited, and you'd be fairly close to the truth. Her father taught her to be cautious and ready for changes for the worst even as his merchant business went from strength to strength

Around three months ago, Cristofolo Snr. developed a slight cough. A few weeks ago this escalated into great choking coughs that wrack his entire body and leave him gasping for air. He's grown far weaker too and now has to look after the family interests from his bed. Though she's scared of what will happen to him, Cataline must admit she is more afraid of what will happen to her and her children should he die. She's already aware of a few preparing claims that her common blood has diluted the noble blood in her children's veins and thus another would be a better heir - even a couple suggesting that her son was fathered by one of the artists she has sponsored. She's preparing for the worst, concentrating on her son's ability to lead while searching out a good match for her daughter, so they'll have allies should need be

Appearance: Cataline is most definitely a beautiful woman and that hasn't faded over the years. Her olive skin is soft and clear and her dark brown eyes are large and expressive. Her hair is usually kept shoulder length, where she can tie it up into a neat bun. Neat is actually the best word to describe her - she is generally spotless, whatever she wears. Small and trim, she takes pride in her appearance. It's a habit, grown out of worrying that her husband would grow bored of her and stop protecting her if she wasn't beautiful. She takes excellent care of her many, many clothes. She would say that this is so she can pawn them should she fall on hard times, but in reality you will have to take her dresses from her cold, dead hands thank you very much
