Good evening, members of the Guard. By now I am sure you are aware of Sergeant Emilian Grey's betrayal and death. I am writing to you for answers.
I find it difficult to believe that Grey would want to take the Duchess' life. If he had, there were many opportunities to assassinate her in a cleverer way than a frontal attack. He was not a stupid man. In the days leading up to his betrayal, can you think of any unusual behavior he exhibited? Can you think of any reason why Grey would suddenly turn on us? I realize that the Bharquites are not held in high regard with some of you. I do not expect your praise, but I do expect the truth.
Filter directly to me, if you wish. I swear by Cita and the royal name that everything written here will not travel from its pages. Know also that withholding information is synonymous with treason, in which case I hope you are very good at lying because if it comes to light that you have there will be another head decorating our gates.
