Aegis had gone from the village to the desert as fast as she could. She noted that the wings on her back made her quick speed just a little slower, but just a little was huge to Aegis. She was a machine built to fight. Even if she did not fight now, it still was enough to cause her to worry.
It had taken her some time to scale down the mountains into the sand. It was her first time in the desert. She remembered that Taichi wanted to go on a trek into the desert... maybe this would help her when he decided to finally do that.
Aegis steadied herself in the sand and looked around. The wind blew her hair everywhere and threatened to enter through her open headband, but she had properly secured it.
Thump thump thump thump thump thump. Aegis' footfalls were as rythmic as a lost offworlder. They rang in his ears, and he inwardly smiled.
He remained still, however. Wait for the moment...that was a human reaction, not an animal one. Remain in the trap to kill the hunter, and thus remove a danger to your kind.
Aegis ran through the sandstorm to try and find him. It occurred that perhaps she should have asked for help... Fina, Minato, perhaps even Yuna would be willing to give aid. But she didn't bother opening the journal, it might get ruined in the storm.
She sighed and stopped moving. She knew her own scanners wouldn't work here, they hadn't worked properly since she arrived in the strange world. Her wings twitched to show her quickly building uneasiness.

Approaching from that direction: Footsteps.
He did not twitch. Wait for her. When she kneels, reach for the crysknife and cut.
Possibilities hung in this moment, a matrix of choices for every possible opening move. This world's future hung on how he moved his first piece...
There. She was close. Just a few more feet...
