Aegis
My biggest mistake since coming here. I judged her wrongly for the materials that compose her. Thou shalt not make a machine in the shape of a human mind is a fine motto, but one must also remember its opposite. In attacking her, I was myself machinelike: a mindless, automatic killing machine.
She is not a thinking machine. She is a human built from different materials.
Alia Atreides
What can I say about Alia? She was the ultimate warning for me and Ghanima of what we could become if we were not careful. She was the abomination we were accused of being. She was the despot noone thought an Atreides could become. Helping her kill herself on that throne room floor, I felt nothing but pity.
And here she is. Back again. This time, however, may be different. With guidance and without the burden of ruling a collapsing galactic empire, perhaps she may turn out to be the loving aunt me and Ghanima would have liked.
But my crysknife is always ready if she fails.
Cloud Strife
I first came upon him while rescuing him with Spice. I wanted to see if its effects remained constant. The answer was yes and yes. I didn't expect to find a tortured, hilarious man who reminds me uncomfortably of Duncan. I certainly did not expect to begin a rocky friendship. Good. Every surprise is a blessing.
Duo Maxwell
What an amusing little man. His cultural idiosincrasies to mine are interesting and himanner of talking is amusing: He shortens every word. I suspect he does not understand a third of what I say but I enjoy the conversation all the better for it.
Meryl Strife
The name is a coincidence. She is not related to Cloud. A most refreshing woman and a fellow of the desert. Her homeworld is not quite as harsh as Arrakis but it is close.
I find her company enjoyable and I find Alia's speculation about us amusing in the extreme. We will probably never be lovers, an outcome I am more than content with.
Muad'dib [Amaterasu]
I named this animal after my father on impulse, but she has taken on another aspect of that name: It also means "instructor". Around her I learn a bit how to control my own animal instincts. Also I owe her a water debt I must find a way to pay...
Ryuho
This is a man I can respect. He sacrificed himself for his duty and in the forest, while we were under the lover's curse, he did not pull back from the Gom Jabbar. If we were in sietch, I would choose Ryuho to be part of my troop in a moment.
Yuri Otani
What a tragedy. This transformation is almost too much for myself and I was born an adult. To inflict it on a child, and for reasons unknown to her, is a cruelty worthy of the Tleilaxu. I wish I could protect her somehow. Perhaps there is a way to sneak up and kill the symbiote on her head...
