[Well, Leto didn't escape the curse this time. Behind and above him is a floating, pixellated rectangle, with reams of rapidly scrolling italicised text. Within it are meditations on the culture of Luceti, the nature of time and space, and other heady topics. It scrolls by pretty rapidly, presenting itself in a way that would cause most ordinary ( Read more... )

[Being out and about himself, James' first few thoughts that come up when he spies Leto, in a rather interestingly 'exclamation-point' shaped thought-bubble, are-] *Crazy prophetic dude! Cloud's friend! He's back? Haven't seen him since he gave me my mind back, I hope my fur isn't pink... I'm gonna have to reopen his file.*

Hey! Leto! You're back!

[The rectangle scrolls on and on:] Ah, the beastman. What the Tleilaxu wouldn't give for a sample of his genetics I bet. I suppose though that we are all experimental subjects here and thus... [...And it goes on like that for some time. He's going to pretend not to notice Jame's thought bubble though. It's more entertaining that way.]

Hello James.

Hey Leto I-... [Suddenly distracted by the huge text... thing that was coming out of Leto James just kind of stares, his eyes flicking back and forth rapidly as he reads through Leto's thought process, managing to keep up for the most part] *Are those his thoughts? They're so rapid and fleshed out, like reading a thesis or something, what is he? If I can see his thoughts, can he see mine? I wonder what the Tleilaxu are... Beastman?!?*

Umm... that's unusual.

Hello Xigbar. [He remembers you from talking about artificial intelligence. Accordingly, the stream of words switches subject to the Butlerian Jihad and the nature of the human mind versus the artificial]

Hey.

[A pause as he reads the tl;dr of the thoughts.]

And I guess it depends on what you wanna call an 'artificial mind'.

What unnerves me about them is that they are often linear in their thinking and definitely linear in their abilities. Genetics recombines human DNA in unpredictable ways, leading to new abilities and new ways of thinking. The artificial do not have this advantage.

[And in the background, his ancestors weigh in, recalling the Butlerian Jihad against the thinking machine tyrants.]
