Thank you for the kind words.

While not an athiest, I see how religions have built dynasties on the backs of the faithful.
And the faithful can hide behind "the word," and themselves be most hypocritical.
Terrible use for the dogmas that the originators so carefully laid out for the benifit of man.
I do believe in a higher power, but am not qualified to offer a definition.

take care

Hey, Spandy. GOnna go to Furry Connection North probably Friday at least since it is a drive no hotel. Thing is, every time I see you at MFF you say hi and vanish. Wish we could hang out together at FCN.

Oh, by the way, I'm not too terribly far from the con hotel; about a half hour drive. If you want to overnight, you can crash here and we could do the con together on Saturday. I don't get home from work on Friday 'til about 2am, though.

From one atheist to another, Happy Solstice (or Happy Monkey, if you prefer)!
I was born with a congenital absence of faith. No amount of effort by my moderately religious parents could awaken it in me. I envy those who have "awakened" because they've made a more difficult choice than I, who never had any belief in any supernatural daddy.

Heh, funny statement. I know what it means to wish you could take your brain out, sit it on the table and ask "what the @#$% is your PROBLEM?!"

Whinnyhi my friend.

I feel that what you need to do is get even more comfortable with your athiesm. The religious ones have no problem any more than any of the rest of us do about it. Religion and all it entails is a VERY PERSONAL thing and it is for YOU and nobody else. Make that a positive for yourself at least. Please do not condemn, poke fun of or otherwise take others away from how they feel. Not saying you do that just saying to relax and enjoy how you feel in comfort. I know. I have had mixed feelings and emotions my entire life and yet, at a young age, decided that God and most ideas of an allmight y, living and powerful god was not my bag. I believe in nature and cosmos and science explanations (such as it is) and tend to ignore the zealots in any religion (Nazis, World Trade Centers, etc.) in that regard. But only in that regard. When someones blows up a clinic or makes war on me, well Do'H then it becomes very important. Otherwise I live happy.

I have no patience for the atheists who carry banners and try to crush the beliefs of everybody else. That kind of dogmatism and thought control is repugnant no matter who carries it out. I can personally understand and sympathize with the need that people have to believe in something ineffable and ostensibly insane, just as I can understand their need to abuse drugs, torment others or cut themselves. As someone with a mildly defective brain, I have patience with others who live with incomprehensible certainties ( ... )
