Other Goldfrappian electronic-cabaret bands?

Well if you want to go to the source, go and get some of Marlene Dietrich's movie's and records, she was amazing and Alison Goldfrapp as quoted her as an influence quite a lot...

I've always thought this scene from Blonde Venus just screams Goldfrapp. The song starts about 2:30.

Sadly, they'd never cover it because of the racial connotations. "My conscience wants to take a vacation" lol.

Nouvelle Vague? And, of course, Portishead to a certain extent. If you enjoyed Goldfrapp's first album, I might also recommend some of Angelo Badalamenti's work for David Lynch (the Twin Peaks music), and Julee Cruise (particularly her debut cd, Floating Into the Night). To pick up on the Roisin Murphy comment, I'd agree that some of her music has hints of Goldfrapp's electronic cabaret style, but her music sounds much more commercial, in my opinion. If you're looking for something a little more loungey~electronica, Tipsy might fit the bill, with their two albums Trip Tease and Uh-Oh. Broadcast is another band who might fit that genre of 'lounge-electronica,' with more than a hint of '60s pop. They've definitely got a style.
