I've noticed that I really haven't posted too many digital art images thus far. The image I would like to share with you today is a product of both inspiration and experimentation. This image was inspired by the costumes of M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, the poems of Robert Frost and by my own visits to the White Mountain region of New Hampshire ( Read more... )

very well done.

the model seems to be standing out too much though.
like there should be more of a haze, like the trees.

I see exactly what you mean. I posted the new version as suggested.

I was debating on whether I should lighten up the figure or not, because fog becomes less intense as distance decreases. It was a bit contrasty though, that's for sure.

are there 'phantom' trees in the first line of them?

I think there might be. I made the trees with a Photoshop brush that had opacity jitter turned on accidentally, so a few of them are probably semi-transparent.

excellent! some of the trees look a little homogenous (there's that repeated T shape branch), but perhaps they're just like that in the hills north of gondor. great job.

The next time I make something like this I'll be expanding my brushes to get a little more variation. Either that, or I'll use the repetition intentionally. There was a photo I saw one time of rows and rows of young trees that looked exactly alike.
