Hair: Green; usually down, with a bit of it pulled back in a yellow ribbon (though on occasion she is known to have worn her sister's red ribbon).
Personality:
Where Makiko Suzuki is energetic, Midori has always been lazy and sleepy. Most people think of her as pretty strange (especially when they compare her to her sister's 'go get em' and peppy attitude), since she falls asleep all of the time, just about anywhere she feels like it..and this does include standing up, or in the middle of a conversation. Her parents and sister are fairly certain she may be border line narcoleptic. Midori isn't in any clubs of her own (she'd just sleep through all of the meetings anyway, she says) but she often follows her sister around to her club and team meetings, just to hang out with her..though, again, she ends up dozing or day dreaming.
Day dreaming is about her only hobby besides sleeping, and music. Midori is a fan of many groups, such as w-inds, ARASHI and Rip Slyme. When she isn't sleeping (and even when she is), she's usually listening to music, and spending her allowance on CDs. Midori also has a pretty big appetite, and is never one to shy away from a meal, or even a second helping; for all that she eats, you would never know it. She remains around the same size as her twin, and this is probably because of all the time she spends trailing around behind Maki every day. Two things she hates are being woken up, and being mistaken for her sister. She feels that she and Maki are completely different people, quite clearly, and people shouldn't go around mixing them up all of the time. This was partially where their issue with ribbons came from.
Where Maki is popular and friendly, Midori is usually too busy slacking off and being lazy. She skips class a lot, to sleep up on the roof of the school (or even just at her desk, if she goes). She doesn't have many friends, like her sister does, but she is friendly to everyone she meets up with. She is, however, quite jealous of the love letters and things that Maki receives, and makes this quite clear to her sister, but no one else. She doesn't think people need to be sending her sister things like that, unless it /she/ is the one sending the letters.
In phys ed she's always the last pick, if she attends. Midori focuses her attention and will power on very little, but Maki is one of the things she does focus on; Maki, and sleeping..and music. Those three things pretty much describe Midori's every day life. She doesn't do well in school, because she skips out a lot to nap, and also because she's very forgetful and tends to pass her reports and such in late. What she does have over her sister is a bit more common sense (believe that or not), and a bit more logic. When Midori /does/ put her mind to things, she can figure things out; understand things, and figure out the best way to do something.
She excels at things like puzzles and trivia, though she's liable to give you the answer and then go back to sleep. She doesn't say much, because she finds she doesn't have a reason to, but when she does talk, she has a tendency to spout cryptic or philosophical things at the drop of a hat, not say another word, and leave everyone around her to be confused. Except Maki. Who just seems to understand what Midori is talking about, or spout something equally confusing in return. She shares her twin's odd sense of humor, though it's something only Maki really sees. She doesn't joke and laugh with just anybody, really just her sister. She's got a keen eye for detail when focusing, but this doesn't really help her much..because she so rarely focuses on things. What good is a talent that you don't use, after all.
She obsesses about things she cares about (she could tell you just about anything about Maki or one of her favorite musical groups) but yet couldn't do a simple math problem; it's just the type of person she is, and how her brain seems to work. Where her sister fails at household chores, Midori excels; she's an excellent cook and would probably make a great housewife type of girl, if she could just stay awake long enough..and stop falling asleep with the oven door open.
Midori worries about her sister a lot, when she's conscious, and this is probably one of the main reasons why she is always tagging along, in addition to the fact that Maki is her best friend, and has always been at her side from the start. Though, Midori freaks out a lot of Maki's friends, it seems, and they don't get her; but, then again, not that many people /do/. She is the lazy and calm counter part to her sister's active and busy life style, always telling Maki to 'take it easy', and she likes it that way. She loves her own pace just fine.
History:
From the time they were small, the Suzukis could see how different their twin daughters were, no matter how much they /appeared/ physically identical in almost every way. The eldest twin, Maki, was always wanting to be held and played with and given attention. The younger, Midori, slept just about all day, every day, almost to the point that her parents began to worry over her, because she only seemed to wake up for food, and then doze right off again. Midori slept through the night from practically from the first night she came into the world. Maki almost never did, and for weeks upon weeks, she would wake up at the most odd hours of the night, while her twin slept on beside her, not even stirring at the other girl's crying. It was as if the two new parents could never get a rest, because although a child as lazy as Midori was a sometimes blessing, a child as insanely attention seeking as Maki counter-acted her twin sister perfectly. To this day, their parents mention that it's as if Maki got the energy for both girls, and Midori got none at all.
Things were always that way, and still are. Maki started walking long before Midori even attempted to crawl. Maki was running around the neighborhood with other kids while Midori was napping in the sun on the porch. Maki was arguing her bed time, hours after Midori had already gone down (of her own free will) for the night. Maki was always eager to help out around the house (though she was /bad/ at it), and Midori never seemed to do her chores, or would always forget what was asked of her. Even though she was, over all, better at doing household things and the like. It seemed to be the one thing Maki didn't beat her at. Not that Midori minded. Maki could be the queen of the world for all she cared, as long as Midori got some well deserved rest in between. Maki would just drag her sister along anyway, as it was. Even when Midori was sleeping, they were rarely apart, it seemed like.
And that's just how things have always been for all of the twin's lives. They live with their parents, and younger brother, Ryoga, (who is twelve years old). They both seem to love Ryoga and their parents a ton, but their family really just spends most of their time being confused by the pair. This especially applies to their little brother, who can't wrap his head around either of his sisters. Their parents have mostly learned to shrug it off and roll their eyes. Now that they're in high school, Midori is still lazy and sleepy, and Makiko is always doing her best and joining any club she can find, all while dragging Midori along behind her..whether Midori is awake or not. That's just how things are between them, and they wouldn't change it for the world.
Other?:
Since they were identical, when the twins started school, a lot of people would often mistake them for each other, from behind. This led to Midori's idea of wearing ribbons in their hair; yellow for herself, and red for Maki. Once their classmates got to know them, it became /very/ apparent who was who, and rather difficult to mistake one for the other, with their habits as they were. But the twins have worn the ribbons in their hair ever since, not bothering to stop.
One example of their odd sense of humor would be switching ribbons with each other, to mess with the people they go to school with, and pretending to be each other. This usually succeeds for about a minute, until the 'Midori' actually does her work, and 'Maki' falls asleep in class. However, they seem to believe they have everybody fooled, and no one has the heart to tell them otherwise. They do this about once a month, if not more.
