I didn't know it was a Beatles song for years. When I was a young girl (eight or nine, maybe) I thought my heart would break when I heard Karen Carpenter sing that song. It's a very slow version (at least to begin with) and she has a way with those brilliant opening words: "I think I'm going to be sad, I think it's today" that really moved me when I was a kid.

What can I tell you? Sometimes beauty can be found in the oddest places. And it always reminds me of my dad, as well, so I still love it.
