...AKA getting back on the comedy horse

I love doing stand-up comedy.  It's the most fun you can have fully-clothed and standing on a stage in front of a crowd of slightly drunk people.  But the whole "trying to kickstart a career in comedy" takes so much time and effort and brazen self-publicity that at times I wonder why I do it at all.

Oooh, a possible paying gig!

I don't remember if I ever told you, but I dipped my toes in the stand-up pool in college, and found that it is really, really hard. So WOO to you for following through and going out and getting gigs and going to competitions. I wish you luck, and gumption. =)

Thank you. Yes, I remember you mentioning it. It's a weird thing to do - I don't find the actual doing the comedy hard so much as the fact that you have to slog around looking for gigs.

Got offered another gig last night - at a brand new club that's starting up about a mile from here. A freebie to start with, but with the suggestion of a paid slot later. Things are looking up... even if I did have to join the community webboard/messaging/blogging site that shall not be mentioned in order to network with these guys.
