So tired of pretending to write my novel.  It will not come to life.  I will start to panic soon.  Maybe they'll make me give back the advance money.  Help ( Read more... )

Thank you kindly... and I've already written about 500 words so far today while watching the tennis, so it obviously works.

you should talk it through with someone. That helps me.

Usually.

That is very good advice indeed. Except it would involve telling my agent and/or my editor how little I've actually written, and then they would start to panic themselves. While feeling uninspired yesterday, I did manage to type out a good chapter-by-chapter list of what happens. Which means I can dart around a bit, and write the bits I feel inspired to write without thinking "Oh my God, I have a vast amorphous mass of things to write". So that has helped a lot with the shape.

That is so fantastic, about the comedy competition! It's a bit terrifying about the novel, but I'm sure you'll work through it. Sending writing GVs!
