The unfairness of life is so shocking in one point of view, the point of view I sometimes have when things go badly for me, but it's also just so amazingly fantastic when someone good, a good person, finds some happiness to enjoy. That happiness is theirs* and theirs* alone, no matter how much he or she might want to share it with others

This might sound frivolous, but...

How's the "their" thing working out for you? I made that same pledge a few months back, and I still have to think/force myself to say "their" when my gut tells me to say "hisorher."
