A friend is going through Car Woes, so I pointed him to this post. :-) You can feel better that I've spread the word to someone in that general area, who may need a GOOD mechanic.

I just want that. Of course, if the friend is on the south side or something, I wouldn't expect it to be a good choice.

I just know that my cars stay on the road because Jerry wills it. And if he starts asking me to bring him burnt offerings or something, I will do it. But I know that is because I can get there too... I have had to push other cars which should never have made it as far as they did. And the station wagon was a solid steel beast with 275,000 miles on it when that happened. It did last to nearly 300,000 and still worked find whem we sold it. I cried.

He's on the north side. :-) I hope it works good for him, if he can go. The main trick being, as with most (myself included) money being tight. If he can find a good mechanic that understands how that concept works (and it sounds like Jerry does), then it's a win-win.

Jerry really believes that if a $10 part will do what a $15 part does, just as well, that the $10 part is better. But if the $15 part will be twice as good, then he won't sell the $10 suggest to you.
Good is measured in less maintenence, more fuel economy, longer life, and more reliable.
I should add that JB's guys are across the street and she says they believe in similar concepts, although I declare them false gods, as there is only one Jerry.
Sound right?
