Hello! You basically summed up everything I was feeling about the third book. I basically had to put it down and stop in the middle since I hated the switch in POVs. The ending = gross
lol about halfway through Allegiant, it became clear to me that the switching POVs would be my least hated hated thing about it. I am still so mad that so much potential was squandered. /o\
Re: movie, I am so mad but also want more???? IT IS CONFUSING I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT.
Ahaha, true. I just felt like I lost track of the whole point of it. The first book and half way through the second I really liked the idea and story but then I felt like the author had no idea what to do next. That's why everything DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A TRILOGY!!!
lol she totally had no idea where she was going. This was especially clear when the second book ended with the Edith Prior video and then in the third book, we learn that PSYCHE THAT WAS JUST A LIE GENETIC EXPERIMENTS OR SOMETHING.
I can't really say anything on Divergent, I've never made up my mind on whether I should try reading it and this probably knocked it back a few places on the priority list
( ... )
READ IT AND THEN COME TALK TO ME ABOUT IT no I mean save yourself.
The only way I can handle it is to think that it's an alternate timeline and in the RTD timeline, there was no John Hurt Doctor and the Doctor still blew up Gallifrey. Otherwise the first few seasons of the show feel like one big damn pointless lie and it makes me want to punch things again.
I know what you mean. This season is better in the very least because (a) No sire bond; and (b) no Klaus. But it's hard to get worked up about much of anything in the show anymore even when it annoys me.
Omg lol I am actually working my way through "Insurgent" right now. The world-building is so stupid and derivative, but they are entertaining enough fast reads so far. But like, who the fuck would want to be in Dauntless OR Abnegation?!?!? And I hate how they villify being smart and wanting knowledge and conflate intelligence with scientific knowledge only--lol, fuck you! (Erudite is more like Ravenclaw-Slytherin). I like the dystopian Chicago though, since I am familiar enough with the city to get the references.
I feel especially weird about the series since learning that Veronica Roth was in my graduating class at university, so there is a chance we were in a lecture together or something or crossed paths at some point. Also, it makes me feel a bit unaccomplished that I am not a hugely successful and rich author already, lol. But it made me feel less bad about buying her e-books, given how expensive tuition was there, lol. I wish now I had waited to see her speak at the National Book Festival this year, but since I hadn't read
( ... )
Hahaha IKR. Dauntless especially I was like WHY IS THERE A WHOLE FACTION BASED ON CHILD ABUSE AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT?????? but then it was like "Four/Tris otp \o/" and I'd forget what I was mad about.
Godspeed on the third book, though. If you get to the end of Insurgent and feel like you can put it down, save yourself.
That is so cool about Veronica Roth being in your graduating class. Lol and IKR?? Like what am I doing with my life rn god.
And multiple Paul Wesleys--omg Silas and his sass KILLED me, I miss him so much.
MTE. Paul Wesley was not as talented as Nina at playing doppelgangers, but he was funny.
lol @ Katherine's random daughter. But why does she have a weird European accent when no one else on the show does.
lol I read the free kindle sample bit and it was all right, but ngl it did not immediately inspire me to buy it. maybe I will give it another chance for you bb.
Lol I'm skipping most of this because I've only read the first Divergent, but hahaha yes to nonsensical world-building (though honestly, it bothered me just from what I'd read) and also reminded me immediately of a Hunger Games and Harry Potter mashup.
YES FOUR/TRIS IS THE OTP. I actually found them hot from the get-go which isn't something I'm used to feeling in YA ships, but they work so well and actually talk and learn things about each other and face obstacles ~together. But ACTUALLY I spent the entire two-three weeks after watching the trailer and reading the first book just making gifs of them. I anticipate this co-dependence you're telling me about, it sounds like my crack.
Without getting too spoilery, I wasn't even too bothered by the shitty world building in the first couple of books. I've always been more interested in character/relationship development than the plot so in that sense it hit my kinks.
and also the Four/Tris otp for life I can't even stand how much I like them, so rude of you Veronica Roth.
but they work so well and actually talk and learn things about each other and face obstacles ~together.
THIS. I think what's remarkable about them for a YA relationship is that I get what they see in each other and also why they make each other ~better together (as trite as that is?) It's a very balanced relationship. And I am such a sucker for co-dependence and overcoming obstacles together. \o/
How very dare you post those gifs without a warning. Rude.
The guy they cast as Four isn't what I pictured really but man is he good looking lol. Thank you for your latest import, Britain.
Man this is the correct choice, the DW Christmas Special was actually more of a mess even than the 50th--though

Lol you're reading the wrong YA books Frances, don't let the Twilight and THG relationships scare you off!

Hahaha, my reaction to the casting was (1) isn't he thirty and isn't Tobias 18?? and (2) but wait didn't he also play that guy who tried to sleep with Lady Mary in Downton Abbey and died of a heart attack?
So.
He is good looking though. No wonder Tris is consistently checking him out during the trailer.

I am reading the wrong relationships, I am!! I think the world of YA has conditioned me to expect and accept love triangles in everything, but it's so much better when we don't get them!!
