Perhaps look at other artists that have done series of the 4 seasons and see what they've got in their imagery. Alphonse Mucha has several 4 seasons series.

Also, even if you don't find the perfect imagery, you can still get the feeling of summer with your color choices ( assuming you're doing this project in color).

wow. you can tell how much thought i've put into this, i hadn't even thought of that. durr. my art history fails me.
i'm very confused about color, cause it's a drawing class, and we're not done anything save for b&w, so i need to have a good sit with her so much hate and figure that out. *sigh*
thank you though, that saved my ass!

Even if it is in black and white you can still use contrast to get different moods across. Think of how light falls in the winter time as opposed to summer. It's much more harsh, with sharper contrasts. Spring starts to soften things up, with summer being hazy and autumn moving back to the sharper lines of winter.

The four seasons is a pretty popular subject in are ( mostly used to show the 4 ages of man from youth until old age.) Perhaps you can also change the type of fae you use in the imagery. A nymph for the spring, dryad for summer, etc. etc.

Mmmm art history.

You could always just make everyone sweaty. Kind of like your icon above. Nothing screams summer like dripping sweat.

As for serious suggestions...I fear I've got nothing that hasn't already been said.

Summer = Growth--The warm yellow sun heats the seeds that develop and grow, then burst into bloom
