I am depressed. I am stressed. I am bored and lonely and wish that I was done with my bloody undergraduate work. I feel boring. I feel shy. I *really* hate this town, with nothing to do but drink overpriced drinks and watch college students make asses of themselves. I hate being a college kid (again) and making an ass of myself. I ( Read more... )

I cannot say that I hate Seattle, and that I soon turn 29 not 27; but I everything else you said are things I would (and do) say myself.

I keep telling my self that it's only two more years, and it's only two more years of the stuff I enjoy. Then, I'm outta California!

hey kiddo,
I'm sorry life sucks for you right now. Grad students are the most pretentious snots the world has come up with- especally ones that are TAs because they are usually in their first couple of years so that attitude hasn't been beaten out of them.
Just remember that we love you, and none of your friends think you are lame for taking time off school. Getting a degree in one go and winding up not having a clue about life or what you want wouldn't have helped anyone and would have wasted lots of money. Now you know what you want, and you have a great husband that can help support you through the whole deal.
As far as the college kids making asses out of themselves-- there's no remedy for that but liberal flogging.

Thanks.... I'm feeling better today. Nothing like a stupidly easy botany test to make me happy!

Oh, and < hugs > on the medical stuffs.... Nothing sucks more than hurting and being told there's nothing anyone can do. BTW, I know some folk (in the internet sense) who swear by the anti-inflammatory diet. It might be kinda tricky for you as you're vegetarian, but it's something to think about....

(The scariest TA I've seen, so far, is for a poli sci class that's before my botany class. That girl is a stone bitch. Makes me glad I'm not taking the class...)
