And I'm home. The surgery went fine, the anesthesia was nothing to worry about and (hopefully) I'll now be able to pass the three kidney stones and one ureter stone. Pain pills are wonderful. I wound up spending the night at my parents... Driving just the few miles from the hospital to their house made me car sick

Surgery? Holy crap. I didn't even know. Goes to show me that I need to be on LJ more. Call me when you are feeling up to it. We need to catch up!

Glad you're feeling ok now. I'm surprised they didn't just remove them, but that might be from lack of knowledge of much of the surgery. Hope you are doing well, and your honey is there at your side.

Removing stones from the kidney is pretty major surgery, and is now only done as a last resort. Instead, they like to break them up into tiny, easier to pass pieces. That way there's no incision made and the kidney isn't too damaged. As for the ureter stone, it was just too big and too lodged for them to remove it in one piece.
