Children of Men (partial spoiler, review of ....acting I guess)

Children of Men is a good movie.  And yes, I value it for many other things ( like the huge long hand held shot that I can't fathom how they laid it out, and did it numerous takes..), but...

The animal wrangling was fuckin' impressive.  They used a huge amount of animals: lots of dogs ( 10 + , with 6 in roles requiring targeting and movement, one ( Read more... )

How interesting! I think this will be the first time I add a movie to my netflix queue based on description of animal handling. Yours is very inspirational.

You know, I never noticed the animal handling. I didn't notice the animals much at all, actually--but it's really neat to know that they put so much thought and care into how they integrated them into the setting and to hear how proficiently they did it. I'm especially interested in the idea of the symbology of the dogs in the movie, being an academic turncoat myself. Thanks for your insights; they deepen my appreciation of an already great movie.
