A number of years ago, Nike bought Converse. I bought a number of pairs of Chuckies from an outlet store in Massachusetts before they stopped making them in America. My last pair is in pretty sad shape, and I went shopping this summer for new shoes. I struck out. There are a few companies that make non-sweatshop Chuck knockoffs, but I haven't ( Read more... )

Crap! I didn't know that Nike had bought them out. I just bought a pair not that long ago. I won't be buying anymore now that I know.

Not to depress you too much, but I believe there is still a loophole that allows products made in Guam to be sold with "Made in USA" even though workshops in Guam are terrible indentured servitude wastelands.

True, but I know that chuckies were made properly until Nike bought them, and they stopped putting that badge on at that point.
