Prelude

Allison walked into the doors of college with a look of determination. It was her time to shine, and she would not be detered. The bright shining letters on the door were painted with light yellow lettering most likely what used to be a bright golden color. Farther down the door broke into an arch, and separated letting those worthy of acceptance be admitted within its bounds. Her book satchel was heavy, and her shoulder slouched under the wieght as she looked up letting the people around her rush by. It was a dark brick building containing nearly 4 stories. She guessed the fourth floor was an attic of sorts, as the ceiling was sloped dramatically. The windows lined the building in a distinst manner. Each floor was graced with four windows aligned along the sides. The buildings had tell-tale influences of Victorian achitecture.
She let her gaze fall down to her surroundings, they were beautiful. Her gaze fell upon a single gentleman, standing awkwardly beside a door frame, every muscle in his face was screaming that he would rather be anywhere else than a college classroom. He had the look of a student, dressed in a crisp clean oxford shirt, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his black pants uncreased, and his tie, loosely fitted around his neck. Even his glass were placed on his forehead as if doing so had caused him great pain. As Allison walked up to him, in need of direction she had no idea this man would become her closest friend, and greatest ally in the college.
As the year passed she became connected to him on a completely different level, their talks always calm, and serene. They talked about there aspirations, and experiences. Even personal stories began to filter between the two. Tuesday nights became their own night, as she gained a position as his Assistant. They stayed up until the wee hours of the morning grading papers, and talking about the meaning of existence. Soon they began working towards the Dovan Convention - the most prestigious writing competition Melamore college participated in. Allison was shocked when her writings gained her acceptance into the preliminary finals of the Dovan Convention.
They were celebrating before the long drive to Dovan, a 12 hour drive, across flat land, with nothing to occupy their time. Aaron declared they go walking inorder to combat the caged feeling they were soon to have. They jokingly set off across the campus, watching as the last of the student filtered out of their classes, and began making the long trek home for spring break. She had been teasing Aaron about his lack of enthusiam all morning. He look at her a mischeivous grin on his, before sprinting ahead of her. She laughed confused, “Aaron what are you doing!?”
“You better run!!!” He yelled loudly sprinting towards her.
