14 North Moore St
Manhattan
Mid-Afternoon

The door opens on a cloudy day in New York City; the air is cool, the winds are stirring, and the alley, as usual, has more than a few discarded papers and plastic bags blowing around. "Looks about right," Ray comments, stepping through. "Welcome to New York City, folks."

Ryan's already chewing on a piece of spearmint gum as he steps through. It's been a while since he's been in a city but he hasn't forgotten how strong some scents are.

"So this is what a non-animated New York looks like." It's really not that much dirtier.

River declined the piece, thinking how bad could it be, and her face wrinkles immediately as she walks through. She brings one hand up to cover her nose and beckons for him to give over, ignoring the smug look on his face.

"I had no idea that Twenty First Earth could smell so -- oily."

"Could be worse. We're a considerable distance away from the Holland Tunnel entrance, Canal Street's not completely backed up with truck traffic, and the NYPD stables across the street were thoroughly cleaned out just this morning," Ray says. "I can get you filters inside if you need them, though."

They're in an alley next to the Firehouse. Ray's found it's a good spot to make his transits from- plus there's a newspaper machine down by the curb, which makes checking the date easy in case he walks into the wrong universe.

Ryan gives over and gives her a little shoulder bump as he steps further into the alley and gets his bearings.

"I believe we'll be all right. This'll let us adjust slowly as the smells bleed in and the flavour fades."

Not to mention they'd stick out rather a lot if they walked around with filters on.
