yes yes yes yes and yes. i had never heard of kara walker before. but reading the fetish thing made me think about how white people fetisize black people, not in the sexual way, but in the desiring the different/exotic. and that explains why we co-opt black style and culture into the white mainstream pop culture without understanding it and EVERYTHING that is "cool" is also "black" and it's all because of fetishizing. so dumb.
