Basically, it's a look at the sexuality of my characters. Jamie did this, and I felt like it would be interesting to do for myself as well.
Name: Ran Yakumo
Orientation: Bisexual
Partners: None
Ships?: In canon, I've always been fond of the Yukari/Ran pairing. Within her game, though, there are possible relations with Youmu from Touhou Project, Amaterasu from Okami, Fai from TRC, and Tibarn from Fire Emblem.
Notes: Given how I play Ran, and how she is commonly presented (and in many ways presents herself), she comes off as what is known as Yamato nadeshiko. This is, basically, the concept of the ideal Japanese woman. Ran is loyal, domestic, artistic, and wise. So sexuality is really more something that just comes as part of her duties as a woman. If it comes to be that someone she is linked to is best serviced in a sexual manner, she will do so to the utmost of her ability, but she's not really the sort to become dominant in bed. At all. Ran, as I play her, also has a very curvaceous figure. A large bust and hips/thighs are evolutionary signs of maternal ability, which would go back into the ideals of being a perfect "wife". Of course, the loyalty aspect makes it very difficult for anyone who is NOT Yukari to end up in a romantic relationship with her anyways. A rarely mentioned part of my head-canon backstory for her, though, involves a rape scenario. But, like I said, it's very rarely mentioned and a few centuries have given her adequate time to heal and cope.
I should note that kitsune stories, in Japanese mythology, often revolve around sex, romance, and marriage. A kitsune will disguise itself as a beautiful woman, fall in love with (or seduce) an ill-fated human male (or female), and the story proceeds from there. So thinking of Ran in terms of romance and sexuality isn't a big stretch at all.
Name: Parsee Mizuhashi
Orientation: Homosexual
Partners: None
Ships?: from canon; Yuugi and Hina. from Clairbourn; Ashley from WarioWare, but not by much.
Notes: Parsee is a tough cookie. She seems like the sort of person who would be afraid of a deep relationship, much more so for physical intimacy. Which isn't to say she's incapable, she would just need someone with a more dominant yet delicate personality in order to make it happen for her. This works for both of her popular ships as both Yuugi and Hina focus on making others happy. The problem Parsee runs into is that she has very powerful self loathing. This goes down to her body as well. She's not particularly interesting to look at physically, and would probably only be sexually attractive to someone who was already interested in her (much of this has to do with how she presents herself). The end goal of any bit of sex for her would just to make her feel comfortable with the idea that someone loves her enough to see past all of her flaws and hang ups and make her feel beautiful as a result. Of course the downside is that she may take to that sort of fleeting happiness in the way a drug addict takes to their poison of choice, which puts her in danger of mild nymphomania. Because when it's all over, she'll go back to hating herself and feeling jealousy of everyone around her.
Name: Sanae Kochiya
Orientation: CB: heterosexual, DR: possibly bisexual
Partners: Rufus from FF7 (CB), none in the DR
Ships?: I'd be lying if I didn't ship the fuck out of Reimu/Sanae, but that doesn't work so well for this version of Sanae.
Notes: Sanae is a good girl. Which is to say that she's the type to wait and not jump into something. She's still a virgin and actually tries to HIDE her large chest most of the time rather than show it off for the young boys at her school. Of course she's also a hormonal teenager and, to some degree, sexually repressed thanks to Kanako wanting to keep her away from sex related things. All of the otome dating sims she plays are very mild, and the majority of her anime collection is either sparkley shoujo or giant robots (and it's old school stuff before Sunrise felt that everything needs more fanservice). She knows she is strongly sexually attracted to her boyfriend, Rufus, and probably masturbates a bit more regularly than normal because of this repression. It's not particularly healthy, but that's only because she feels her purity is far more important than exploring her sexuality safely. This actually applies to the DR as well, though there is a Sanae that never even MET Rufus. Either way, she's sexually frustrated and has no clue what to do with herself.
Name: Dizzy
Orientation: Bisexual (CB), Heterosexual (Luceti and Viva)
Partners: Kallen from Code Geass (CB), none otherwise
Ships?: Ky/Dizzy is sort of my new GG otp, but it's irrelevant in this case.
Notes: Viva and Luceti: Dizzy is a person without sexuality. She's curious, but there are things that keeps her attention far far more. And her budding feelings for Ky are purely romantic and I doubt she'd know what to do with a penis if she ever saw one. The same is in Viva. She may dress provocatively in her battle gear and her pirate uniform, but that's ultimately meaningless given sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with her personality. Dizzy is someone whom is obviously far more interested in romance. Hell, I would think that when she eventually DID make love to Ky, the crowning moment for her was that she was creating life and not that she was having sex with her husband.
Clairbourn: In CB, Dizzy is played as paraplegic. As you can imagine, this produces some interesting issues when it comes to sex. And while she's not as horny as your average teenager, she DOES practically live with Kallen and has no adults about to keep them off of each other. I've actually enjoyed writing sex from this perspective. It's pretty interesting. Dizzy is more aware of her looks in this verse and the effect she has on others physically. And while she's still mostly innocent, she is capable of being sexy for Kallen.
Name: Giorno Giovanna
Orientation: Homosexual
Partners: Trevor Gilchrist (CB)
Ships?: With Mista. Furiously.
Notes: Man, I'm not even going to bother with a long tirade on this, but if you don't see the canon evidence that he's probably gay, then you are fucking blind.
Name: Jyuushirou Ukitake
Orientation: Bisexual
Partners: He's had several throughout the time I've RP'd him. Michelle from ROD, Okita from Peacemaker (sort of), Raine Sage from ToS (sort of), Kira Izuru, Retsu Unohana, Hiyori Sarugaki, Toshirou Hitsugaya, I'VE PLAYED HIM FOR A LONG TIME
Ships: I used to be a pretty hardcore shipper of him and Shunsui or Hitsugaya. Over time, I've come to just like the pairing with Unohana more because of their dynamic.
Notes: Like I said before, I've played Jyuu for a loooong time. And I've had a lot of time to think on his sexuality. To be honest, sex is really not that important to him. At all. He's too sickly for heavy sexual activity anyways. What's important to Jyuushirou is companionship. He's attracted to people he has strong bonds with. This is why I play him as bisexual. Because when it comes to finding that person you feel truly bonded with on a spiritual level, their gender just doesn't factor in. He's probably not all that great at love-making in general. In CB, he's married to Michelle Cheung, and that relationship just sort of exemplifies what I'm talking about. They are partners, through and through.
Name: Rohan Kishibe
Orientation: Bisexual, but mostly irrelevant.
Partners: Reimi until she was dropped.
Shipping: Reimi/Rohan is my diamond OTP.
Notes: Rohan is incapable of having a normal relationship. Let's put that out there right now. He has more issues than a news stand and his bizarre way of thinking and feeling just does not click with normal human beings. Physical intimacy is the same way. Sure, he probably loves it, but he loves it in a way that's far too mutated and complex for any lover to truly appreciate. This is why Reimi works so well as a partner for him, as not only is she aware and accepting of how weird Rohan is, she's capable of neutralizing it. She's known him since he was a small and un-altered child. Sexually and romantically, Rohan needs someone like this. Of course if he were ever to find a companion that not only gets him, but also has the same bizarre mental faculties as he does, then that would be some of the best smut I've ever written.
Name: Patchouli Knowledge
Orientation: Bisexual
Partners: Kohaku from WISH (Luceti), none otherwise
Ships?: Marisa/Alice/Patchy is my ot3 from canon, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't ship her with Gokudera pretty strongly in Mayfield.
Notes: Patchouli is another character where the potential sexual aspects of her are practically irrelevant, rendered so by her poor health. And her poor social skills and social phobias make interpersonal relationships also very awkward and dangerous. To put it simply, Patchy is almost incapable of speaking her feelings when it comes to stronger emotions. She even has trouble with things like hatred and disdain, or at least expressing them in a manner that's healthy. Her idea of interpersonal relationships are all based on what she's read in books. Reality, however, is far more intense than fiction.
This thread is a fantastic and recent example on how she deals with love and intimacy. Which is pretty poorly. Either way, she IS capable of it. She can fall in love with someone. It's just dealing with her issues that becomes troublesome.
Name: Kasumi
Orientation: Bi-curious
Partners: None
Ships?: ... y-yeah you guys probably know this one by now.
Notes: Kasumi and sex is... really hard to imagine. Her
original character design was pretty heavy on the fanservice, but as is often the case in animanga, just because a character has visual fanservice does not mean it translates over to their personality. And Kasumi, while friendly and helpful and generally outgoing, is not really a sexual person. Which isn't to say that sex isn't on her mind. She is still, in many ways, a teenager. She's more mature than your average 19 year old, sure, but she probably still thinks on issues of intimacy and relationships. Most notably with her massive canon crush on Tir. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think she jilled off while thinking about him on more than a few occasions. She probably still does right until II, as it's hinted at that she never lost her feelings for him. Is she a virgin? I'd say yes. If Tir wanted to make love to her, would she go along with it? You bet your ass.
Name: Ashton Anchors
Orientation: Heterosexual (much to the chagrin of the people that ship him with China, I imagine)
Partners: None (he was SORT of with Viola from Eternal Sonata, but that's another story)
Ships?: He canonly has a crush on Precis thanks to his beginning relationship stats with her, but this is pretty poorly addressed in all forms of the canon (even into Blue Sphere) and isn't something I really integrate into how I play him.
Notes: Ashton is the sort of guy who really enjoys flirting and doing nice things for possible lady friends. He loves the initial thrill of the chase. This is probably because rejection doesn't really seem to effect him that much. Which isn't to say ht doesn't get upset over it, but more that it's such a common part of his unluckly life that he's used to it and doesn't allow it to bother him for long. If a girl ever DOES show genuine interest, though, he is convinced that it's a guarantee he will somehow screw things up. So he rarely ever peruses his feelings. The Viola matter in Luceti just furthered this for him. Needless to say, he's a virgin.
Name: RED Sniper
Orientation: Asexual
Partners: None
Ships?: I LIKE Spy/Sniper, I really do, but it's just not part of how I play him.
Notes: Sniper is a man who genuinely does NOT care about sex or relationships. He's polite to women, even a bit flirtatious, but his job makes such things so difficult that he avoids anything meaningful by nature. He doesn't seem to have sexual urges at all, and if he gets off on anything, it's on getting three headshots in a row.
Name: Testament
Orientation: Homosexual
Partners: Haruka from Tactics, previously Johnny Sfondi, may or may not harbor some degree of intimate feelings for Sakon Tachibana.
Ships?: I pretty much ship Johnny/Testament now and forever
Notes: Testament doesn't have much, if any, sexuality in canon, but canon artwork of him does seem to portray him displaying typical traits of effeminate homosexual male sexuality. This goes right down to his outfit, which is obviously designed with a sort of gay fanservice in mind. That being said, he's not very sexually focused. Gears are obviously capable of having sex if Sin's existence is to be believed, so it's not a matter of that, it's just he is more of a thinker than a doer. Does he think and philosophize about the role of sex in the universe? You betcha. But he's not going to go around sharing those thoughts. As a love maker, I write him as fairly aggressive. Topping from the bottom, so to speak. He is also aware of himself being sexually attractive and is capable of using it to get what he wants out of a partner. Seduction is not an artform unknown to him.
Name: Tir McDohl
Orientation: Bisexual
Partners: Formally with Kazuki from L'Corda d'Oro
Ships?: Yes. Many.
Notes: Tir is without direction in relationships. His fling with Kazuki proved he has pretty bad codependency issues. And as far as physical intimacy is concerned, he's just probably not all that special. Tir has a lot of trouble allowing himself to fall in love because of who he is and his past. He's got too many issues to sort through before he can really make a relationship work. What he needs is a partner with the patience to allow him to do that.
Name:Eirin Yagokoro
Orientation: Bisexual, polyamorous
Partners: Several
Ships?" Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who likes the Eirin/Kaguya ship >.>...
Notes: Eirin, and I really need to stress this, is a polyamorous character. She sees no issue whatsoever with multiple romantic and sexual partners. Keep in mind how old this character is. She's existed for thousands of years. The idea of eternally dedicating yourself to one person probably just seems silly to her. Her sexual prowess also reflects someone with this sort of lifespan (her medical knowledge also helps). All in all, sexuality is just part of existence for Eirin. It's not something she gives that much importance to, but in such a way that she treats it very casually. Romance, however, is another matter entirely. To love someone is a larger emotional investment than she is, at times, able to make. A good example was her reaction to Roy's disappearance in Discedo. She had so much trouble admitting to herself that she may have been in love with him, and that his loss was more than just "lovers coming and going with the tides". And even then, NOTHING is as important to her as Kaguya is. Period. So all of it would be abandoned in a heartbeat at Kaguya's request. She wouldn't eve blink.
Name: Joseph Joestar
Orientation: Heterosexual
Partners: Married to Suzy Q, canonly
Ships?: see above
Notes: Before I begin, I should not that it is canon that Joseph has cheated, sexually, on Suzy. Multiple times. So even though she's the only love for him, he may get booty from other sources when the need arises. The issue being that Joseph's personality tends to overwhelm a lot of people and that can either be a major turn on or a huge turn off. Either way, he never OBVIOUSLY hits on someone. In fact, he does try to resist. But, and this was especially apparent when CC was around in Discedo, that if someone puts him on the ropes, he wears down fairly quickly. But he also was never certain if he'd be taking advantage of her or not, so nothing ever happened between them that was physical. As far as lovemaking is concerned, Joseph is probably... well, Josuke's mom seemed impressed.
Name: Cirno
Orientation: Irrelevant
Partners: Flandre in Discedo, Mystia in the DR
Ships?: ... see above
Notes: I don't think about Cirno's sexuality. I don't WANT to. She may be in her 60's, but she's no Claudia from the Vampire Chronicles. Cirno is still very much a child. So all of her romantic relationships are very much of the puppy love variety and played as such. They are both homosexual couples, but this is mostly because I believe Cirno doesn't give a shit about gender when it comes to caring about people. It's not like fairies need sex to reproduce anyways.
Name: Lucca Ashtear
Orientation: Homosexual (more on this below)
Partners: None
Ships?: I do ship Chrono/Lucca. More on this below.
Notes: Oh Lucca... Here's the deal. It's hinted in canon that Lucca had a crush on Chrono. It's also hinted in canon that Lucca died unmarried and likely a virgin. So this is based ENTIRELY on what happened in Discedo. And given her two major relationships have been with Aigis from Persona 3 and Alpha from Quit Country Cafe, then it's fairly obvious that Lucca is... robosexual. Lucca is just that nerdy girl who never knew how to act in front of people she had stronger feelings for. She's a ball of awkward. So whether or not this thing with Alpha works out is... really up in the air. And as far as sex is concerned, well... it's probably not likely she'd be that comfortable with physical intimacy. She's just not the touchy-feely sort.
Name: Jinju "May" Lee
Orientation: Bi-curious
Partners: None (her thing with Alfred Jones is pretty one-sided), but she's been paired with a variety of characters in previous games.
Ships?: None, really.
Notes: May Lee is still a young woman. She's out of uni, but she's not really looking for husband material. She just doesn't want to be alone, really. So both romance and sex boil down to her desire to feel wanted. Given her personality and hobbies, a lot of guys are turned off by her. This is in spite of having a sexy, athletic body. It's proof that looks don't matter much when you're spazzing about how awesome Decade is before making whoopy. So yeah, she finds herself being very awkward. The chief reason she began to fall in love with Alfred Jones is... he loves super heroes. Nothing about her hobbies or her personality seems odd to him. In fact, he seems to love that about her. Needles to say, though, because of the string of bad boyfriends she's had in the past, she has a fear of being hurt. She's just unsure of what to do with herself.
... Yanno what? Let's just skip him. I don't even want to think about it.
Name: Jotaro Kujo
Orientation: Homosexual (wat? See below)
Partners: His relationship with his wife was extremely short lived.
Ships?: ... Yeah, ya'll know this one.
Notes: Okay. So some of you might find it odd that I play Jotaro as gay. Because, you know, he has a kid. I should emphasize that one does not need to be sexually attracted to a woman, or women at all, in order to impregnate them. The body's responses to stimuli are programmed in a way that has nothing to do with a person's sexual orientation. If a gay guy jams it in a girl long enough, he will get off and produce crotch spawn. It's not that hard. Now to justify the gay part, you'd need to see the same things between himself and Kakyoin back in Stardust Crusaders that I did. Some might argue that has little to do with gender, but I digress. Either way, the point is I play Jotaro this way. And he's generally not keen on the idea of relationships at all, so it's kind of pointless to talk about. He might as well be asexual.
Name: Prosciutto
Orientation: Homosexual
Partners: In Viva, he was intimately involved with his partner, Risotto Nero. This was not a romantic relationship.
Ships?: None
Notes: Prosciutto does not care about romantic relationships. They are pretty much dead to him. His history, lifestyle, and general personality does not lend itself one to the idea of that sort of partnership. He DOES, however, enjoy sex. And we're not talking normal sex. Prosciutto is a very disturbingly kinky man. This goes beyond your normal bondage and sado-masochism. I'd even go so far as to say he has a guro fetish, given he and Risotto were prone to coming very close to literally killing one another in their sexual exploits. He is a man who requires extremely intense sensations that strike on physical and mental levels deeply in order to find satisfaction. Writing smut for him was an interesting experience, with this in mind. But I don't really find his fetishes at all interesting, myself. He's too kinky for me and I write him.
Name: Soiree Meira
Orientation: Heterosexual
Partners: Lulu from FFX
Ships?: None.
Notes: Soiree is as straight as an arrow. He and Lulu have had a happy and fulfilling relationship, and she bore him twin sons. All in all, Soiree is the kind of guy who enjoys female beauty and sensuality to ever even consider looking at another guy. And Lulu was the perfect sort of woman for that. He's NOT all that great in bed, but this is mostly due to a lack of experience. Lulu is fixing this.
Name: Sale Monacello
Orientation: Bi-curious
Partners: None
Ships?: None
Notes: Sale is not a character to whom I have given a terrible amount of thought in regards to sexuality. It's just not an important part of his character. But I wouldn't say he's 100% straight either, in spite of the genetic dominance of heterosexuality in most men. We'll see where his road goes.
Name: Momiji Inubashiri
Orientation: Homosexual
Partners: Aya in the DR, Selene in... several other places.
Ships?: Aya, Nitori, and... HatateSHUT UP, LEW
Notes: Momiji is a strange one. Canon contradicted a lot of what I understood about Aya and Momiji's relationship with the new game. But I've since gotten over that and adjusted how I play her accordingly. Momiji is, first and foremost, a very loyal and dutiful person. She sticks by her friends and superiors to her utmost and never surrenders anything in that regard. So, that being said, it IS possible for her relationships to grow beyond being "just friends". And this is especially true with Aya, who knows Momiji so well that she can play her just right to get the kind of reactions she wants. Which isn't to say Momiji just puts up with Aya's crap. But in the end, they are what they are. Sex, on the other hand, is pretty... basic for Momiji. She's a wolf. She does wolf things. Do I really need to go into detail here?
Name: Rock Howard
Orientation: ... Interesting
Partners: None
Ships?: None
Notes: Rock is canonly gynophobic. This makes for interesting situations. He could really go either way, sexually. It's definitely something I will play on when it comes to his interpersonal relationships.
Name: Karin Kanzuki
Orientation: Bi-curious
Partners: None
Ships?: Sakura
Notes: Karin is one of the few teenagers where I can honestly say that sex, and relationships, really ARE the furthest thing from her mind. She is far more focused on victory in all other aspects in her life to give a damn about stuff like that. But I can guarantee you that, once she gets around to it? It's going to be the same story. All You Need Is Victory is her family motto. And when it comes to sex and romance, she will be. Or she will die trying.
Name: Advent!Meiling
Orientation: I honestly haven't decided. For now, I'm going to say homosexual.
Partners: Formerly in a relationship with Advent!Sakuya
Ships?: None
Notes: With this Meiling, you kind of take one of the key aspects of the original Meiling and turn that around on its head. That being her loyalty to the SDM and her unwavering sense of duty. This Meiling has left the service of the Scarlet Devil and doesn't seem to want to return any time soon. So I've also taken the typical portrayal of Meiling and her relationship with Sakuya and turned it on its head. There's a LOT to this, but I'm not going to go into all of it. Let's just say... she'd go back to Sakuya if she thought Sakuya would have her. But for now, she's fine being a single woman. She's not really interested in sex, overall.
Name: Haikiri Kusanagi
Orientation: Another interesting one. See below
Partners: Raine Kusanagi
Ships?: None
Notes: Haikiri has a bizarre sense for relationships and sexuality. He keeps up with Raine, whom he gave his last name to, purely because he wants to see where her story leads. Sex is just part of that, for him. He likes sex because of the ability it gives him to see inside the truth of living beings. He wants to know where human existence is going and why it wants so badly to get there. It's very interesting to write.
GEEZE THAT TOOK AWHILE.
