Hurricane in Tucson?

Tucson is getting hit by Hurricane Javier this weekend! It's fantastic, as we were drastically below average rainfall for the summer until now.

Floridians may flame me now...

I thought they were called typhoons in the Pacific?

Only in the western pacific. In the eastern pacific and around Hawaii, they're still called Hurricanes, and are handled by the NHC in Coral Gables.

We got hit with remnants of one last year, too -- Hurrican Ignacio in late August.

The rains were so bad they caused flooding all over your side of town. It took me nearly 2 hours to get home that night! Chris, unbeknownst to me, was out exploring the wash next to our house when he heard the rumble of water. He got out just in time.

He still has pictures of that event. I posted about it here.

I don't remember that at all. I read that post again, and I still don't remember it. I probably would have assumed it was a stronger-than-usual monsoon downpour.

And of course I get a broken window on my car the night before! What a mess!
