One Week till the Mockingjay Sings

Aug 17, 2010 12:10

Are we excited people? (More like, are we deathly afraid we might be spoiled before we get a chance to read the whole thing? **raises hand** Especially now that there are at least TWO confirmed early readings of the thing on Twitter!)

I want to know how you guys are all getting your grubby little hands on copies. Have you preordered? Are you ( Read more... )

Zomg I am SO FREAKING EXCITED. How are we only a week away? Why are we a whole week away?

I think I am going to have to avoid the Internet completely until I've finished it--I'm really worried about getting spoiled. Mostly b/c I'm worried about Gale and Team Gale, okay, yes. I do NOT want to know in advance if things do not end well for him. :(

I pre-ordered for the physical book AND the e-book from Amazon so that I can download it at 12:01 exactly. :DDDD Can't wait.

Tara, I'm so worried about Gale! Woe. Also, do you think we should do a predictions post? I could throw one up after work! Am interested to hear what people think the outcome will be in general and for specific characters/ships.

Ooh downloading it sounds good! Then I could stay up all night and read it if needed! I don't have a kindle or anything though--if you download the e-book can you just read it on your computer?

I've been saying all along that I'm pretty sure that Collins is not going to kill either of the boys, but...I am getting nervous for Gale too lately as I read other people's more definite opinions that he's doooooomed. Sigh.

We could do a separate post for predictions or discuss here. (We get such low traffic...I dunno, whatever you think is best.) I have ZERO predictions, I just have no idea what to expect!!

I'm not sure about the computer, but it might be worth checking out! I have Kindle on my phone, so it's not perfect but it's OK.

Yeah, whether it's rational or not, I'm scared!

I know, it is low turnout...maybe I'll just try to come up with a prediction or two tonight and then put it up tomorrow. Can't say I know what to expect either!

I originally preordered from Amazon because I mistakenly thought it would arrive on the 24th. Nope, it's not even scheduled to ship until then. I really don't want to have to avoid the whole 'net for two days while I wait for mine to get here. I'm going to cancel my order and just pick it up from the Borders on the way home from work. When I called them the other day, the manager said she wasn't aware of any huge discounts, but "we're getting dozens and dozens of copies!"

The other sucky thing about being so damn sick today? I'd planned to take next Wednesday off work so I could read the book, but now that ain't gonna happen because I'm using up that sick day right now. I'm not *that* fast of a reader, but hopefully I can finish the whole thing before work on Wednesday!

Aw, girl, hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, same here re: Amazon. So annoying! I've ordered things before that have gotten there the day of release, so I'm not sure what's up.

I think the Amazon books arriving the day of release depends on how popular they are - the Harry Potter books are a good example. Not sure if the Mockingjay book rates up there with that in Amazon's eyes, although I'm sure it does with us.

It's hard to believe the time has almost come to conclude this saga. Even if I get the book from the library prior to Dragon*Con, I most likely won't have a chance to read it until after I return home.

Sure hope I don't get spoiled on the outcome.

I know, isn't it? Can't believe it's been a year!

Yeah, you might have to avoid certain places (like this one!)--that's my plan until I'm done.

I'm also waiting for the book from the library, so I'll likely have to wait a while to get it. I've got my name in at 2 different systems, so I'm hopeful, but for now, the day of release I'll likely just be trying to avoid spoilers. If we could keep stuff behind cuts for a month or two here, that would be best for me, but I understand if others won't want to.

I feel confident in saying we'll definitely use cuts as we don't want to spoil anyone.

Ah Wisteria, I did the same thing. I pre-ordered on Amazon first but that was when I had just started reading The Hunger Games and by the time I finished the first book and started the second, I knew there was no way I could wait 2 days for the 3rd book knowing I could just run to the store Tues morning and get it myself.
Other stores have the same price listed as Amazon so it should be just as cheap, which I'm kinda surprised about.

I got 2 of my friends into the books so as soon as I finish the 3rd book it'll make its rounds to them lol. I might even do a quick re-read of the first 2 before the 24th.
