You know, my grandmother and I speculated a bit about where District 12 would be (yes, I totally got my grandmother hooked on the series!) based on that mention of a mountain range, I think it was? But I don't think we ever guessed West Virginia. Huh. Makes sense, though it's also weird to hear her read that way!

Wonder if this will factor into the movie at all...

I think Collins says that District 12 is in the Applachians so Virginia or West Virginia would probably make sense. It's very interesting!
