Coming from Portsmouth as I do it is very hard sometimes to speak english like the good lady in the big house on the Mall. I have a glottal stop and suffer periodically from double negatives although I aint done nuffin' to cause it.
If you can help me to lead a normal linguistic life I would be grateful - I am trying to learn english and, as I live in Bonn, regularly click on www.english-network.de where they are cool and literate but when I asked them what a muckle was I got no reply. It's not easy to learn German but still find there are words even in your own language you don't understand- especially when people keep inventing new ones. I'd say it was atavistic if I knew what that meant.
