little bit

the days are flying by. it's hard to believe that it's february already. this winter has been filled with people coming and going. i feel like my friend circle here keeps shrinking. it makes me sad in a way... a kind of loneliness creeping in. yet, i'm extremely happy that they're off doing what they need to do to be happy, successful, whatever ( Read more... )

oh that is very cute that your mom got leah that magazine subscription! is it as random as it seems? yay for cooking as well!

about the job thing, yeah, i'm never sure if it's a pipe dream to have a job that you love. like on one hand, it seems like that's how it should be. and that is what people say a lot of times. but sometimes i think liking your job can be just about who you work with. so like there's no way to really prepare for that or find that; it's just sort of random and trying things until they fit. and it seems like there is always going to be a certain degree that you hate your job. i just don't know. i think for a lot of the population that work is just work and what fulfills them is outside. not saying that's how it should be but... bills do have to be paid.

good luck on buying a place! can't wait til kea and i can do that as well...

yeah true on the job thing. i think very few people absolutely *love* what they do day in and day out. the rest of us put up with it and like it often enough so we can stick with it.

tayllor says work is so that you can pay the bills so you can do what you want in your free time. he doesn't care that much if he isn't in love with his job as long as he's happy with the other parts of his life. that works for me... he is the first person i know who doesn't agonize over not loving work as much.

ooh! i've been on this cooking thing, too. i got some awesome cookbooks from julie and jenny for xmas and bday... despite the monumental effort it is for me to get beyond the microwave, its been kinda fun. i normally have no patience for things that take more than 15 mins to make. but yesterday i made roasted rosemary potatoes- it took like an hour! it was good, though.

speaking of which, robyn, i need to get that spicy nuts recipe from you. need need.

Yay, Kristen! I'm glad you like the Ellie Krieger cookbook! She's one of my favorite food writers. :)

Yeah, I think your job would be way cooler if you had better people to work with. My dream job has always involved working with a tight group of friends on something we all think is fun. Part of me wants to get my Master's in Early Childhood Special Education and another part of me still wants to go to film school. We'll see...

I'm excited that you're going to be able to buy a place! I feel so relieved for people when they're in the position to do that.

Your kitties are adorable and I think it's sooo cute that your mom got Leah that magazine subscription! Would it help your cooking goal if we shared more recipes?
