Why buying used makes cents (forgive the pun!)

I have cast iron that my grandmother passed down to me that is older than my parents - possibly older than my grandmother herself. Cast iron is not only non-stick when seasoned correctly, it is nearly unbreakable, shows no wear, can go from stovetop to oven, is a great heat diffuser under aluminum pots for more even cooking (thank you Alton Brown

ohhhh I love my cast iron!! I boil off anything that sticks with water and baking soda.
