have you checked all your connections on the pc ? try going to - start/settings/control panel/system / system properties device manager and look at sound video and game controllers to see if any conflicts have happened . it could be a driver issue . If it's on board sound rather than a sound card it could be a matter of checking if it's all ok in the bios from boot up by hitting del when you boot and looking at settings in the bios for sound controls and hitting either the plus or minus key to activate onboard sound . Failing this it could just be the particular media player settings . Finaly if you have that little icon on your task bar for volume controls (its a gold speaker) just check to see if theyre all set by right clicking the icon and then volume controls and audio properties . You can also find it in control panel / sound and media settings . Just have a browse round . It could be any number of things really . It's a shit bag when things like that happen :(
i'd pretty much done all of that and various troubleshooting steps before i wrote my little plea. :( heh. any and all help is very much appreciated though. i know i'll find something, if something is in fact wrong. it's not the first time we've lost sound then it just "shows up" eventually. but i'm more concerned about the fact that i can't see anything wrong. maybe i'm just stupid and it's staring me in the face, rather than being a phantom problem.
i'm leaning more towards speaker problems for some reason now. which i thought i'd confidently dismissed earlier. :/
HOLY SHIT! ME TOO ME TOO. it just happened today. cos we had to unplug my puter cos we got new carpeting upstairs and we rearranged my room and now I HAVE NO SOUND. I WANT TO LISTEN TO STUPID NOISES.
But sometimes I accidentally mute my sound. I have no clue how, but I do. So maybe click the speaker in your tray and see if it's muted? Or muted through whatever program you're using to play?
