easy as pie! (I hope)

Oct 30, 2003 12:58

I just baked a pumpkin pie, for the Karyn-and-Jeremy Halloween funness, which will be going down roundabouts tomorrow night. The pie is cooling on the kitchen counter, and my apartment smells like cinnamon and nutmeg (mostly on account of how I accidentally spilled quite a lot of cinnamon all over the sink, but nevertheless: a good smell, indeed ( Read more... )

i tend to get very confused and overwhelmed during the crust-concocting stage...

Yes, me too! The difficulty of crust, I think, has to do with how you have to cut in the butter: the butter has to be cold, and you cannot merely blend it in or mix it up, you have to "cut" the cold butter into the flour mixture with two knives or a special pastry tool. It is a great big headache. As I am clumsy with knives and unable to afford a special pastry tool, I have had no choice but to embrace cheating: frozen pre-made pie shells! Just thaw, fill, and bake - "easy as pie," yes indeed. ;)

I saw this cute idea for a pumpkin pie on halloween. You take white icing and draw a spiderweb on the top of it and make a little spider out of an m&m.

Wow, that sounds superfun! Do you think creamcheese frosting would work in place of the white icing? I haven't any icing per se, but I do have some frosting on hand...

Also, your Halloween icon is cute like whoa.

I don't know who you are...but the fact that you have "never liked pumpkin pie" leads me to believe you aren't human. What is wrong with you!!!! Jeeeeez...do you not like Christmas either??

Well, in all fairness, I must add that I never even bothered to TRY pumpkin pie until about a month ago.

I feel silly though. If I'd known you were anti-pumpkin, I'd have gone with a scrumptious apple cake instead, or perhaps an old standby, such as brownies.

Besides which, I have my doubts as to whether the pumpkin pieness actually worked. It was easy...a little TOO easy, perhaps...but...oh well. At least your chilli will be good, and cupcakes can do no wrong, and we can always count on my sister to do something wondrously yummy.

Hey redscarfboy!

So I will have to say that after my Traciemade pumpkin pie experience, I do in fact like pumpkin pie!(YUM) I think that I've just always had really bad pumpkin pie experiences in the past (like my aunts greyish pie). Plus I love chocolate, so I guess pumpkin pie will never be my favorite.

Oh and I don't like christmas, for other reasons than you may think..but I would have to say Halloween is my favorite.

p.s. we have met at the palatine library..when you came to see Tracie!

Welcome back to the human race. I like chocolate a lot to (http://public.fotki.com/tala/miscellaneous/german_products/dsc01554.html) but pumpking pie definately holds a special place in my heart.

Ugg...do you or do you not want to remain human?

My guess is yes. You'll have to share a picture with me so I can figure it out for sure though...or maybe just look at a bunch of mine. http://redscarf.net

Ask miss Tracie, she will tell you when we met, (for a brief moment)
then when you are filled in remember hearts are very fragile things.

Oh and I'm sorry to hear someone stole your bike seat.
