Thankyou :) I'm super-excited about the promotion because I'll be taking on a ton of responsibilities that I'm genuinely interested in taking on: I'm going to be trained to do storytimes and outreach, and I'll be officially in charge of keeping the Youth Fiction section up-to-date. In other words, the new job is pretty much the job of my dreams--but for how (alas) it is still only part-time.
Incidentally, my old job starts at $8.50/hour plus participation in an IMRF plan (that's a pension program). It's kind of boring, but incredibly easy. And best of all, it supplies you with a 40% discount on books and freedom from all library fines and a lot of free food (because the people who work in Circulation do a great deal of baking and tend to be extremely generous when it comes to sharing).
Well, I'm going to school now, so right now I'm working in acquisitions at the main research library here. So far I mostly write web pages, which I suppose is par for the course.
Promotions are good. I think I am possibly being offered to move up at my work soon but seeing as this job is driving me insane and I'm only working part-time at the moment I'm not sure that I want to work full-time even.
