For chemistry discussions, I would probably turn more towards materials and engineering topics, like biodegrading and clean fuels, etc. But I'm not sure what kinds of discussions you mean, like open-ended or preconception-challenging, or what. A chemistry textbook might have some ideas, because it's not as if I know anything about chemistry. Geoff might also be a good person to ask about chemistry discussion ideas.

Open-ended discussions are what I'm designing. Just something to get students discussing the topic.

Maybe put two physicists(or other scientists) side by side with conflicting theories, ask students which one the agree with more and make them explain why (with supported arguments of course). Maybe that sounds like a homework problem.

Have students discuss how humans could have evolved, maybe something specific such as-"Why are we hairless/naked?"
