It is pretty bad in other places, houses and cars underwater, even an entire school! Several people died after getting caught in the rising water. Some of the bigger creeks and rivers that are usually in the 2-4 ft range, that have flood levels of 10 feet or so, were cresting at over 20 feet! All 3 major highways here, and several smaller highways were closed at one point or another due to water completely covering the roads. Dan's usual 45 min commute took 4 hours on Monday! The reservoir that feeds most of Atlanta it's water was way down due to the drought...it gained a foot of water in the days leading up to the flooding! 6 inches on Sunday alone! This is a huge lake that rises a fraction of an inch during heavy rains. During the drought, the news made a comment about how we'd need a dozen hurricane level rains to get the water levels back to normal. Apparently, we had close to that last week!
