Lucius sat in his study looking out onto the gardens. He was waiting for his wife and most trusted friend to arrive. He was not sure if he was being paranoid or if his sister in law was up to something. She had been sulking around the manor and making insinuating comments for days now. Shaking his head, he put those thoughts out of his head. At least until Severus and Narcissa showed up.

(OOC: I will be playing Narcissa until emm718 returns. I have her permission to do so.)

Narcissa pushed the door to her husband's study with heavy steps and a sigh. She wondered bitterly how long this game of cat and mouse would last as the heavy door gave way.

As Snape strode up the steep, winding path up to the main house, he grimaced as a pair of silvery peacocks stepped delicately around the lawn. For some reason those pale birds always reminded him of Lucius, preening, vain little things that they were. Though Snape was forced to admit that Lucius was one of his oldest friends, if "friend" was the correct word for someone bonded to him in mutual servitude, he nevertheless disliked Lucius' penchant for the overly grandiose ( ... )

Narcissa looked out the window and sighed, annoyed an d worried about the state of things. She didn't like the idea of Severus in her house but he had seen his Unbreakable Vow through up until now and she hoped he would continue doing so,

"Can he really be trusted, Lucius?"
