Alright. What in blue blazes was he doing that discharged a loaded firearm INSIDE the house? And was alcohol involved? And how is that going to be repaired? What kind of gun was it?
Temp repair: shingle nail a stir stick inside the attic, Seal the shingle/hole with Great Stuff, then paint two coats of Polyurethane around and over the blob so even molecular sized gaps are sealed. Then cover with white RTV to prevent UV rays from causing it to break down. The stir stick is only to keep the Great stuff from falling out and doing nobody any good. This can last 5 years easily.
